Midol

It’s nice having a three-pack of Midol around. One stays in my bathroom and one in my purse (with one to spare). Midol works great for me as a perfect blend of acetaminophen, caffeine and a diuretic to reduce bloating, ease cramping, and keep me going when I don’t even want to get up out of bed. It works quickly, usually in less than a half an hour. I have been taking Midol since I was 13 for PMS and menstrual symptoms. I get irritating lower back pain and Midol helps to relieve that pain. It really helped when I was adjusting to my IUD too. (My husband has also been known to use a dose when he needs quick relief from a headache.)

I haven’t had bad cramps in almost 10 yrs and even when I did a couple of Tylenol would do the trick. But recently I was diagnosed as having a fibroid, which causes severe cramps like I’d never experienced before in my life. Initially, before my diagnosis, I tried Tylenol and Ibuprofen but both only took a bit of the edge off the pain; I still could barely walk, let alone work, at least 1 day a month. My GP prescribed some pills for me, and I’m sure they’d work, but they were horse pills and I’m not good at swallowing pills. Then I remembered my friends who had severe cramps always praising Midol. They called it their period crack! So I came on Amazon to decide which kind to buy based on the reviews and saw this version came up top of the list.

As the others here have said before, these pills are amazing! And given the tiny size I’m able to swallow them with ease. For the first day or so of my period it takes away about 90-95% of the cramping and all of the lower back pain. Now not having a 100% result may not seem great to others, but for me it’s life changing as I can actually function and go into work. And what is left is just mild discomfort not a sharp pain. And on the 2nd and 3rd day (which is normally when the pain starts to subside), I don’t feel a thing. If my GP decides the course of action with my fibroid is to just treat the pain until it goes away I’ll be back to buy about 4 more packs of 4 – given they’re so hard to find I’m afraid they’ll be discontinued. But, I hope not as I would probably literally cry.
